User reviews
When you submit a review of a product or brand, several pieces of personal data are recorded:
- Your IP address (internet connection): a filter is in place to prevent abuse (such as the same person submitting multiple reviews)
- Your email address: an email is sent to you automatically to verify that this address is genuine and to prevent abuse. It is never passed on to a third party. This address is automatically anonymised after 90 days.
- Cookie: a cookie is placed on your browser to remember your profile.
You may request to view or delete your reviews and personal information at any time by contacting our Data Protection Officer.
Media
If you are a registered user and upload images to the website, we advise you to avoid uploading images containing EXIF data with GPS coordinates. Visitors to your website may download and extract location data from these images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our website, you will be offered the option to save your name, email address and website in cookies. This is solely for your convenience, so that you do not have to enter this information again if you leave another comment at a later date. These cookies expire after one year. If you have an account and log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be created to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and will be automatically deleted when you close your browser. When you log in, we will set a number of cookies to save your login details and your screen display preferences. A login cookie lasts for two days, whilst a display options cookie lasts for one year. If you tick ‘Remember me’, your login cookie will be retained for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookie will be deleted. When you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data. It simply indicates the ID of the post you have just edited. It expires after one day.
Consent to the use of cookies
By using our Website, the User consents to the use of the cookies listed above. You may choose to disable all or some of the cookies at any time. Your browser can also be configured to notify you of cookies stored on your device and ask you whether to accept them or not (on a case-by-case basis or in their entirety). Please note, however, that disabling all cookies will prevent you from using our Website under normal conditions, with the exception of basic functions. At any time, you can configure your browser as explained below so that cookies are stored on your device or, conversely, so that they are rejected, either systematically or depending on the issuer. You can also configure your browser so that you are asked to accept or reject cookies on a case-by-case basis, before a cookie is likely to be stored on your device. With regard to third-party cookies, you can also visit the relevant third-party websites directly and consult their cookie policies. If you have consented in your web browser to the storage of cookies on your device, the cookies embedded in the pages and content you have viewed may be stored temporarily in a dedicated area of your device. They will only be readable by the party that set them. You may change your mind at any time.
Configuring cookie settings
If the User does not wish to receive cookies, he/she can configure his/her web browser to restrict or block them: all modern browsers allow you to change cookie settings, usually via the ‘Options’ or ‘Preferences’ menu. The User may accept or reject cookies on a case-by-case basis or reject them systematically once and for all. The User may also choose which cookies are installed at any time via the Cookies icon located at the bottom right of every page on the website.
How to control or prevent the storage of cookies
Each browser’s settings are different. These are described in the browser’s help menu, which will explain how to change the User’s preferences regarding cookies. For the management bar integrated into the website, simply click on the banner at the bottom of the site. Your preferences can then be changed by clicking on the Cookies icon at the bottom right of every page on the site.

Tracking newsletters and mailings
When you subscribe to the HOP – Halte à l’Obsolescence Programmée newsletter, we use tracking pixels embedded in the emails we send you.
These pixels are small, invisible images that enable us, amongst other things, to determine whether an email has been opened and to measure the performance of our campaigns. HOP uses this information to:
- assess the effectiveness of our communications and tailor our messages;
- better understand the topics and formats that interest our community;
- avoid unnecessary follow-ups, particularly when an email has already been viewed;
- limit communications sent to people who no longer view our emails.
The use of these pixels is subject to your consent. This consent is obtained when you subscribe to the newsletter, after we have informed you of their use and purposes.
You may withdraw your consent at any time. A link allowing you to opt out of pixel tracking is provided for this purpose in the footer of each relevant newsletter. Withdrawing your consent to pixel tracking does not result in your unsubscription from the newsletter, unless you also choose to unsubscribe from it. The choices you make are recorded so that we do not contact you again unnecessarily and to ensure that your preferences are respected in future mailings.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor were visiting that other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking tools, and track your interactions with this embedded content if you have an account logged in on their website.
